Goodbye WP, hello #GHOST

Goodbye WP, hello #GHOST

It’s been a while since I posted on my lifetime blog — probably a couple of years. WOW!!!
A lot has changed since then. First off, new job! I’m now working for a well-known Italian luxury food brand, doing a bit of everything, but mostly tech (which is the best part). As always, I end up doing way more than what I’m paid for — mostly because I’m super dedicated and know my way around tech. That’s the kind of stuff I’ll be sharing here on this new version of my diary.

Since my last post, I’ve pretty much disappeared from social media. FB? Still have a dormant account just to manage clients' pages. IG? I only keep it to stay in the loop with my son. The rest? Never really used them much anyway.

My mindset around tech and the platforms I use has totally shifted. I moved my email off Gmail to my own domain, set up my own Mastodon instance (shoutout to MaStoMondo.net!), and started leaving WhatsApp groups that I find boring or just plain annoying.

Also, I got tired of listening to house music on commercial stations like Ibiza Global Network — too many ads, too much talk. So, I made my own: LDN House Radio. Just house music, 24/7. No ads, no chatter.

And I’m constantly playing around with new FOSS projects to break away from Big Tech. I’m over the way they use our data. Slowly but surely, I’m switching to OWNING my data. It lives on my own server, and I can pull the plug anytime.

That’s it for now. Despite bringing over here posts from my lifetime blog dated back to 2008, this Ghost instance will be more tech-focused. I’m excited to share my experiences finding low-cost (or even free) technical solutions — something I’ve always been really good at.
